Marble Troughs from Istanbul
These marble troughs or sinks have come from the homes of the privileged class in Istanbul during Ottoman times. The less wealthy would not have had bathrooms in their homes and traditionally their ablutions would have been done in the Bath Houses, and almost certainly they could not have afforded marble sinks in their kitchens.
In the garden they have endless uses, - moss beds, fountains, bird baths, small reflective ponds or for placing potted plants in. Depending on their use they can be built up, placed on a stands or placed directly on the ground.
